Happy Labor Day weekend!

Happy Labor Day!

I was reading some favorite Bible verses this morning, and just wanted to share a few:

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."Proverbs 18:10

"Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him."Daniel 2:20-22

Rachel's show & playing at the park

On Saturday night my friend Monique and I, and her friend Ray went to the Borders in Roseville to hear my sister-in-law, Rachel Wagner, perform. Rachel has a new CD that just came out, "When We're There I'll Let You Know", and she performed a lot of her new songs, and also a few from her first CD. She sounded great, and we had fun just hanging out and listening, and it was great to get to see everyone too!
I took Sarah to the park today, and she had fun swinging in the swings. There were other little kids there too, and another little girl that was 18 months old that she had fun swinging with.

Later today she had fun grinning at herself in the viewfinder of my camera:

It was a really fun weekend!

I went to a retreat in Lake Tahoe this last weekend, and it was so wonderful!

Steve stayed home with Sarah. - Thank you Honey!!!
Here are a few pictures from my trip to Zephyr Point:

It was of course very beautiful, and the weather was perfect. It was a great weekend, and I got to meet a lot of very nice people, made a few friends, and had a lot of fun!

Citius, Altius, Fortius!

Faster, higher, stronger! (And no, I'm not just describing the Olympics, I'm talking about Sarah and how she's really moving around lately!) She's really scooching a lot... can crawling be far behind? We'll see, but for now it's fun watching her scootch and wiggle.

Her third tooth, and first one on the top, is now peeking through. Go Sarah!!!

There are new pictures of Sarah on our SmugMug site, and the most recent ones are from the first couple weeks of August.

Back to the Olympics... Steve and I watched the opening ceremony last night, and all I have to say is WOW! It was truly beautiful and amazing. I don't see how anyone is going to top that for a long time. We were both mesmerized! I'm watching gymnastics tonight, and am looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Tivo is gonna be busy!! And on that note, if anyone is interested in knowing the current medal count, here is a link to that: Overall Medal Standings.

Here is a scene from last night's opening ceremony:
The official Olympic creed:

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

Blog Facelift

Happy August everyone!

Well, I decided my blog needed a facelift, and I found this helpful site - The Cutest Blog On the Block, and went with it! They have over 200 blog templates, and it was really easy to do. The cool part about it is that now if (and when) I get tired of pink and burgundy, I can easily upload a completely different background!

Less than 1 week until the start of the Summer Olympic games. I love watching the gymnastics, diving, and the track & field events, and of course, the opening ceremonies. Tivo will be kept very busy next weekend!

Did you know...

August was originally named Sextilis in Latin, because it was the sixth month in the ancient Roman calendar, which started in March about 750 BC under Romulus. It was renamed in honor of Augustus in 8 BC because several of the most significant events in his rise to power, culminating in the fall of Alexandria, which fell in this month.

Lore claims August originally had 29 days in the Roman Republican calendar. Augustus took two days from February and gave it to August when Sextilis was renamed in his honor.

August's flower is the gladiolus or poppy, and its birthstone is the peridot.

Betcha ya can't say "gladiolus" 5 times really fast...
